Research Interests
I am a first-generation born Canadian settler of mixed ethnicity, Nisei (second generation Japanese Canadian) and French descent. I have the immense privilege of living, learning, working, and playing on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
I am drawn to the RESET lab’s strong emphasis on understanding and facilitating eco-social health equity through collaborative, inclusive, and whole-of-community approaches.
Both my academic background in the social sciences and public health and my vocational background and training in animal health as a Registered Veterinary Technician align with the lab’s focus on the interconnections between human, animal, and ecosystems health and well-being.
Over the course of my doctoral studies, I intend to develop my research skills to better understand how human-animal relationships can be leveraged to mitigate harm and to promote co-benefits and reciprocal well-being for humans, animals, and their shared ecosystems
