Intergenerational Approaches to Climate Change and Health Advancements

By: Sean Sidhu, MPH (c)

The TAKE NOTICE (Targeting Action and Knowledge Exchange at the Nexus of Environment and Health Through Integrated Children and Youth Engagement) Network is a collaborative initiative that brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and youth. The aim is to operationalize intergenerational justice and equity in advancing sustainable and transformative climate solutions. Through refining and sharing tools and frameworks, this network seeks to integrate an intergenerational justice perspective in climate-related decision-making, setting priorities, and fostering large-scale responses.

My practicum involved conducting an environmental scan to identify existing intergenerational approaches to planetary health, including relevant frameworks and projects. The findings were analyzed to inform the creation of a living repository on the RESET Lab webpage, designed to house key tools and resources for building intergenerational partnerships. Interviews with researchers, youth, and community members were planned to evaluate challenges, successes, and requirements for advancing intergenerational work in climate action.

These activities were intended to support the TAKE NOTICE Network in strengthening collaborations across generations. The achievements highlighted on this poster include the development of a thematic codebook to guide the analysis and creation of a photovoice recording , populating the living repository with relevant frameworks and tools, and creating a lunch and learn series invitation to engage repository contributors and further interview discussions to deepen understanding. These efforts aim to enhance the capacity of the TAKE NOTICE Network to support equitable and sustainable intergenerational climate action.
